The story of my dream journey begins on December 21st when I left for yatra from Chennai. I reached Chennai railway station to board Mumbai mail. I met the TJY Yatri team and the fire for the yatra was reflecting from their eyes. We were exchanging last minute updates on if we got all the essentials for the yatra and I felt my friend, Abhishek was disturbed about something. When I saw around, I noticed a community of transgender and fortunately (Confused!!) they were in our compartment. My instant reaction was like any other human being “oh my god!”. I was not comfortable with this community because of my previous experiences I had last time I went to Mumbai for a conference. Abhishek shared his personal experience with one of the transgender which portrays the purity of this community. He met a transgender who has completed her MA from Delhi University and works as Receptionist in Le Meridian. I was stunned to hear that because I never thought any transgender will dare to do such things. We headed to our berths and again we met with an unexpected situation. Two transgender had their seats next to us. Abhi was a rock star in managing them. He spoke and successfully got the seats exchanged. We went to platform to get few snaps. Me and Abdul , another friend of mine were posing for a photo and we saw them(Transgender) coming near us and commenting about us. Abhi requested them to pose for a photo along with us. Abdul and I went speechless. Those (Transgender community) ppl joined us for a photo and introduced them. I really could not figure out what was happening. We took few photos and then we left to occupy our seats. I asked Abhishek y he invited them for photo. He told me “Be Good to them, they will respect you “. He added saying they are very good by heart and genuine ppl with genuine smile .That was a million dollar statement from him. Believe me, every time they saw us they smiled and spoke to us. So, let me summarize about the things I learnt from this experience.

Learning’s:

  • Respect Humanity.
  • Be Adaptive (Change according to situation).

What Next?

I have decided I will do my best to help the transgender community as part of Mission Humanity Project.

I shall continue in my next post about the next day’s experience. I request everyone to just behave like a human next time you meet a transgender community.

Jai Hind!!
